Yeah, I think so. Living in So Cal, you have to do a lot of interpreting. Spanish, ghetto, South Central ghetto, more ghetto, "Spanglish". I thought you southern folk should understand that sentence. !*roll-laugh*!

XDriver

I am still confused as to how to add the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad name to the Britkits USRA 2-8-8-2 Mallet and the Britkits USRA 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific. I want to create a C&O Class H-7 Mallet and a C&O Class F-19 Pacific for my pre-WW11 COARW route scenarios. Do I need to learn how to re-paint rolling stock to accomplish this? Or can I just drop the C and O roadname .TgPcDx file into the Source\RoadName folder? I have read and re-read the PDF that came bundled with both locomotive kits but I am a newbie to RailWorks and have not tried my hand at repaints. I am just now collecting the repaint tools as I discover them.

Also, is it possible to borrow the 'flying compressors' from the USRA Mallet and apply them to the USRA Heavy Pacific to create the famous C&O loco front of smoke box look?

Have you read Dick COwen's PDF that come with some or all of these locos? He explained how to do it for those with the proper tools.

Hey Buzz

I have read and re-read the instructions in the Britkits PDF file. It seems a little on the "Greek" side to me as a newbie. Is there a YouTube tutorial that I might learn from? I would love to apprentice with a "master" and become a member for the Re-Paint Priesthood...Secret Hand Shake and All!!! I am just now collecting the RW editing tools as I discover them.

Buzz

I have downloaded XDriver's C&O roadname number_j.TgPcDx file. Where does this file get copied to? The instructions say put it in the loco texture folder. Ok, I have done that for both my USRA_Mallet and USRA_H-Pacific. But the instructions say I need to load both the Loco and the Tender into the Editor to manually change the default numbering from 11111111x1111 to the loco numbers and the roadname code letter. XDriver says use number_j for C&O with his number_j.TgPcDx file. So, What Editor do I use to rename the default numbering and roadname. The Whole World wants to Know!!!

By the way, Railworks4 has unbundle the BluePrint Editor from the RailWorks game in TS2013. It now resides in Utilities.exe. Your have to click the 'Launch the Blueprint Editor' Blueprints button under the Tools & Docs tab to bring up the Editor. Is this the editor that Dick C. is talking about???

I apologize for not knowing these things, but I am a newbie.

Use the Senario Editor in the game. Click on the loco and or tender until a flyout box comes up on the right of the screen. Within that is an editable box with the numbers in.

Hi Dick

Can I make several different locomotives of the same type with differnt loco numbers? I want to build a scenario with a Mallet at the point of a long coal drag with another Mallet as pusher.

Dick C.

That is good to know. Do I clone the assets first before setting each individual Loco and Tender code in Scenario Editor for multiple locos with different road numbers?

I am playing with Britkits USRA Mallet. The road numbers for the C&O Class H-7 Mallet run from 1540 to 1589. I already have the 'number_j.TgPcDx' file that XDriver supplied which I placed in the \railworks\Assets\Britkits\Steam\RaiVehicles\USRA_2-8-8-2\ folder. The part a will have code "1542xxxxxxxxx"; the part b will have code "1542xxxxx1542"; the tender will have "xxxx1542jxxxx". Of course, the x's are blank characters in my codes. I am assuming that the part b will not have a 'name' graphic so I would leave the ninth space as a blank characterin the part b code, correct? What about the number set? Do they need to go in the same folder?

Well, here goes!!!

Dick has a well designed system of road names and numbers. Not that hard to use once you try a couple of time.

Question...if the numbers are specified from 1500-1540, can I still create my own number?

You can put in any number you desire. As long as it's no more than 4 digits. Here's default loco. 11111111x1111 You want lets say 1382. you would type in. 13821382x1382 for loco. First 4 is headlight board # second 4 is sand dome # x is cab name which would be blank because you want a # there so last 4 would be # on cab side. If you wanted a name on cab side without # change x to letter of RR and leave the last 4 #s off as blank would be xxxx.
I want an Erie loco # 54. It would look like this. x54xx54xAxxxx.

Here's your C&O Class H-7 Mallet 1540.
Engine part a. 1540xxxxxxxxx. This is only the headlight number for part a. you don't need any other so they are blank. use x
Engine part b. xxxx1540x1540. There is no headlight on part b so I use xxxx for first 4.
Tender would be. xxxx1540jxxxx. C&O name on side number on back.

Where I used the number 1540, put in any number you want.

I can not figure out the proper code for the tender. I want to paint the "Chesapeake and Ohio" roadname on the tender sides. I want the loco number on the tender end. I don't want the loco number on the tender sides and I do not want loco number on the tender top. The Loco part a and part b codes are working fine - I get all the loco numbers in the correct locations on the USRA Mallet A and B loco parts. The tender code I am using is "xxxx1542jxxxx" where the 'x' is a space character as a placeholder. I am getting a red panel at the tender top, and I am getting a 4 segment gray scale pattern superimposed over my roadname on the tender sides. What am I doing incorrectly? I also tested and tryed to use non-printable characters in place of the 'spaces' with no success. Is there a special character that will not print over my roadname?

Here is a picture of what is generated with tender code "xxxx1542jxxxx" where x is a blank (space) character:

Any help is greatly appreciated.
