Problems Reskinning CB&Q SD-7

Unread postby harryadkins » Sat Jul 18, 2020 6:39 pm

I've done several reskins of the Conrail SD-7 but am having problems with the CB&Q version (see attachments). The CB&Q version has the numbers in the correct placement.

Any suggestions?

Harry

Hi Harry,

Not quite sure I understand what or where the issue is. Mapping coordinates? Alignment of stripes? Texture assignments to model parts? I'd be happy to help but please tell me which parts of the model you are struggling with.

The missing texture on the screenshot is the "main2" texture in case that is what you were wondering about.

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Sorry for the lack of detail. Don't know why the main-2 texture is missing. Will go back to the bin file. Where are the dynamic brake blisters and grates? Otherwise, I'm getting close.

Thanks for your help,
Harry

Hi Harry,

The CBQ versions saw substantial modifications by Dan V. and Mike C., chances are that some files are named differently now. Generally, for all my EMDs, "main1" is for radiator/dynamic grilles, hood and cab sides, "main2" is roof, cab front, trucks, pilots, frame sides, fuel tank. The smaller parts are almost all on the "clutter" texture. And I'm painfully aware that lining up stripes over the cab and body can be a real pain because the mapped areas of hood and cab sides aren't of identical sizes. **!!bang!!**

The dynamic brake blister is to the right of the short hood on the main1 texture (probably not included in the .psd's Legend). I'd recommend converting one of my dynamics-equipped SD's main1 texture with RW Tools for the original artwork (and its exact location on the texture).

Cheers,
Michael
