Looking forward to seeing more progress on this.

Looks like it's going to be a awesome model.

Hi,

Thanks for all your kind comments!

Can I just say: "YEEEEAAAAAHHH!!!!" I think it's done, more or less. I just checked, the first saved copy of the source file dates back to July 2010, so !*hp*! ... wow! Two years!!!

All basic components of this model are now done. It runs, albeit only based on the default F7 with some modified parameters. So it is nothing fancy, but everything works. The 3D cab is working too, although some parts are still missing (don't look at the back wall! *!lol!* ). I'll add them at a later point, for now I just want to leave this engine for a longer while and get back to other projects.

The first kit of the SD7 should hit my website soon. It will be an all-GN pack, featuring their line of phase-1 SD7s. You'll get the as-delivered model in Empire Builder scheme, with solid white stripes on the frame, and the later modified version with bay windows and winterization hatch. Also included are the Simplified paint scheme and the Big Sky Blue paint scheme. All four engines run long hood forward and don't have dynamic brakes.

At some later point I'll also add the phase-2 fittings, with the newer hand rail stanchions, horns mounted on the winterization hatch, and so on.
BN versions of both phases will be added too. Somewhere along the line there's also going to be a short hood forward model.

mdurdan wrote:May I ask what the alpha channel looks like? Also is it set up to be easily used as a re-paint friendly template like RSC's

It should be pretty repaint friendly, I tried my best to keep the mapping as straight forward and self explanatory as possible. I used a lot of TrainBumSpec on this model, so the alpha is crucial for the looks of the model.

Cheers,
Michael

PS: on home rails...

Engine looks great, and runs great.

I tried to leave a donation but it won't let me use my card. I guess it doesn't like my debit card. It is first saying that you cannot use a card that belongs to a existing paypal account. And then when I log into the paypal it says, We're Sorry but you cannot link a card that already has a paypal, please use a different card.

Once this can be figured out I will be more then happy to leave a donation??

Hi,

As some of you already found out: !!*ok*!!
IT IS ONLINE!

Please see here to read all about it and to download the files:
http://golden-age-rails.com/freightcarp ... sd7gn.html

Have fun with it. I just tested it on the freshly updated TS2012, and it seems to work fine. Please let me know if you run into any trouble or find any bugs.

Cheers,
Michael
