Doodlebug 2.0 Now Available

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:50 am

Hi,

The updated model of my Montana Western Doodlebug is now available on my website:
http://golden-age-rails.com/packsrw/doodlebug.html

It's now a stand-alone model that doesn't require any additional assets any more. I recommend uninstalling any older versions before installing this latest one (which probably is going to be the final version of this model).

Have fun with the railcar and please report any problems or issues you might encounter.

Cheers
Michael

Thanks, Michael. A well done and fun model. I did notice that the throttle, headlight switch, and brake lever do not have mouse "pickup points" for lack of a better term. The wiper, horn, bell, and reverser can all be operated with the mouse. The rest can be operated with the kb or HUD.
Thanks again,
Marc

Really enjoying the engine now, do you think that later you'll be able to get all of the cab controls to work by the mouse.

Thanks for your comments!

Sorry about the mouse controls. That's just me being lazy I guess! You may have already noticed that I 'borrowed' a few of the new cab elements from the RDC, but due to some shifted pivot points they can't be 'moused' any more. I'll fix it, but it might take a while as I'll have to completely redo the animations for these parts.

Will the C&P repaint in the file library work with the new model? I'm guessing it won't. Thanks!

Also, if possible I'd also like to see the 5 view restored as well, the original view from one of the first beta's where you could sit back in the coach of the Doodlebug alongside the passengers.

I'd really like to see that view back if possible since it was quite interesting.

...Cheers...

Hi,

The B&M car we talked about before is now available for download on my website. With it I also tried to fix the bugs and issues of the existing MW 2.0 car, but hit a few snags. Most annoying is that I couldn't get the throttle and brake handles to be "mousable", even though I think I did everything by the book (well, apparently not!). However, for the time being I don't know what's causing this problem, so these two parts have to stay untouchable.

You can download the B&M car here.

I've found no issues or qualms with the normal doodlebug (It's amazing - thanks for making it available!)
Although the B&M (and manual version) have a few bugs I've found.

With the B&M manual transmission version, I am unable to get any brake application
Not really a noteworthy "bug", but the Ammeter also seems to be inoperable in the manual transmission version (is that intended or engine limitation?)

The rear headlight in both B&M setups seems to be stuck "on" (the ground effect or whichever term you might have for it). Here is an example:
