Hurricane Matthew

Just letting you all know if you didn't, our server is in Orlando where the hurricane is happening. Got an email from them saying Friday will probably be the worst day if something does happen. So if we are down you know why.

It's all hype nowadays. That's our modern world. Sigh.

I wouldn't really say that. Based off legitimate reports and forecasts. This one is quite a lot stronger than previous storms.
Especially when it will fist hit land tomorrow.

Hype or not, a cat. 3,4 or 5 hurricane is a powerful storm. There will be lots of damage and destruction if it makes land fall, especially along the east costs.

Ok, thanks for letting us know Bob. (I'll probably forget. )

Grab your spare undies and get out of there, Bob! We can live without RWA for a few days and will be happier knowing that you are safe.

Bob's not there just our server is. You know kind of like.......... oh I can't go there. Anyway as I predicted no hurricane in Orlando. Much hype about nothing at least for Florida. "The Thing" stayed off shore and there was minimal damage on the coast.

I just got back from Naples after a 15 hour drive in refugee traffic. My family and I were in no danger, but we left a day early because we didn't wan't to have to drive through the Beastie the next day to get home.

They local gov did a good job - of raising a panic. Gas and groceries went really quick, and gas stations were participating on low-level gouging within hours of the evacuation order. When I went to check out of the hotel yesterday, there were people seriously threatening the desk clerks because the hotel was already booked solid. By the time mid-morning rolled around, there was not another hotel room availabe anywhere in Flordia, and we checked all the way back to Gulf Shores, AL. Things really broke down in Georgia, as what few cops were present were only interested in writing tickets

My brother in law and family is in Orlando. Water and tuna cans were over three days ago. Yesterday and during the night rainfalls were heavy. But now the most nasty part of the hurricane is pounding all the coast between Jacksonville and Savannah.

Yeah... Hind sight is 20 - 20 people. What if that "thing" had turned a few degrees and made landfall??? The Florida Gov did the right thing. !!*ok*!!

What if what if what if. That's modern life for not living life to it's fullest. Don't ever take a chance. Something bad might happen. The facts remain that people were sent out to endure endless hours in traffic jams ripped off at gas stations and motels and wasted a couple of days of their lives or more when the smart money was predicting that this hurricane was going to do exactly what it did. Most of the forecasting and hype from the major news outlets were either sensationalizing the whole affair or were govmit people covering their you know whats.

My aunts live in the Villages NW of Orlando. They had 50 mph winds that were blowing leaves and loose stuff around. The palm trees were bending a bit. No real damage, but they were advised to stay in doors. With the rain, there was no real reason to go out. They had that for about 6 hours. High winds and rain. No one hurt. I feel for the millions that were evacuated in the Carolinas. They were panicked.

Rick Scott is an idiot. 90% of the forecast models, for DAYS AND DAYS beforehand, said the storm would strengthen but stay off the coast. It did both. The Guberner gets on the TV and says "This storm will kill you", putting 13 million believers in the liberal media propaganda machine into full blown panic mode. A simple "evacuate if you value your lives and watch the forecasts from the NWS to make informed decisions." would have sufficed.

I fully understand now why Florida is the only state that has it's own Fark tag.
