It's the dreaded Vista doing who knows what half the time. I am using Firefox the latest version. The Vista is up to date also. I am threatening to upgrade to Windows 7 but am cheap. Save all my money for payware on RW.

I'm beginning to think it's something in the wording of these links. I think I'll upload a couple of more pictures and see if they have a problem.

If you feel like it, and have time, could you do something for me?

Open a command prompt - if you don't know how, see this link http://www.whoismadhur.com/2008/06/05/h ... -in-vista/

You should see something like this:

CMD.jpg

Type this: tracert railworksamerica.com (make sure there is a space between tracert and railworksamerica.com), then hit 'Enter' on your keyboard.
It should run for a few seconds.

Once it says traceroute complete, go to the little box at the top left and click on it.

CMD2.jpg

Scroll down to 'Edit', then 'Select All'. Then go back to the little box, click on 'Edit' again, then 'Copy'.

Next, open up Notepad and hit Ctrl+V (or right click and select 'Paste').
Save that as a text file and either attach it to a post or email it to me.

This traceroute will show me if there is any bottlenecks or slow connections between your computer and the server RWA is on.

I have to leave the house for a few hours but I'll check back in when I get home.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That really doesn't look bad at all. I don't see any major slow-downs there.

If you run into the same error again when trying to post, try and run the trace route at that time. Maybe it's something that happens at certain times of the day.

OK but i think we are missing something else here. I see a couple of others with problems about the same. In the meantime I'll just use up your bandwidth if I can't get the links to work. Thanks for your attention.

That traceroute looks a lot different. There's a few problems on this one that are causing a slow-down of you connection to the RWA server. This will cause packet loss, and could be a big part of the problem.

BTW! Century Tel bought out Embarq back in 2008, so you're basically going through servers that Century Tel controls, or owns anyway.

Until I can get some more info from anyone having problems, I can't assume they're having the same problem as you. That's the whole purpose for this thread, but if they don't report anything, there's nothing I can do.

If you link to images on an image hosting site, you're actually using less of my bandwidth. *!!wink!!*

BTW! I'm swapping emails with my server tech guy about this issue. Turns out it may not be your connection after all, but I'm not 100% sure yet what it is.
Just letting you know that I am working on it, but with no one else reporting anything it's kind of hard to trace down.

All seems to be working now. Did you do something or is this going to go down as another one of those internet mysteries?

I just read this over at the UKTrainSim forums and was wondering if this issue is happening here and no one has reported it.

I can't say for certain if I have seen a duplicate posting here.
