Unread postby BNSF650 » Wed Aug 11, 2010 5:49 pm

Just wondering if anybody here uses 3D MAN 9 and who can teach me some stuff about it.. I got lucky and got me a copy of this now i am trying to learn the steps to make stuff for the game. I would like to start out with small things then work my way up.

Go here , start on page 6 and work your way through these simple vids and exercises .. it should take a couple of weeks to get a basic understanding of what Max is , effective use is down to skill and it's not the mesh that counts > it's the textures

Wrong question to Justin

Also how long did it take you to get where you are today with your models?

Should have quietly asked yourself this

How long will it take me to be better ? , how much hard work am I prepared to do ?

Ciao

Here is one link for you Erik
http://www.cgtutorials.com/t6436/Autode ... _Creations
I think you have to register with CG first but I'm not sure on that and what i would suggest is to sign up for a Subscription with Lynda.com They have every video on any tool you'll need to make stuff for any Train Sim,They wont teach you how to make Trains and stuff but they will teach you the fundamentals for say 3ds Max and Photo shop and then in awhile you can start asking around the different Forums for more Detailed Videos on the particular type of thing your wishing to make then you will have a better understanding of how Max works.
And start with a piece of scenery i never listened to advice that was freely given tome and thought i could start with a loco

I finally got this SW1200 into Trainz but it was only with a lot of help from a very talented friend who is a freak when it comes to this stuff.

This is a Tool house that I've made and hopefully i can get it into Railworks and i wish i had of started with a piece of scenery first instead of a loco theres just way too much hair to be lost trying to make one of those if you don't have a very good understanding of the basics of any program you use be it 3ds/Blender.
Thats my opinion anyway Erik have a look around theres heaps of info out there ya just have to find whats right for you.
Cheers Mick. *!greengrin!*
