Animation Frustration

This actually belongs in the Scenery Design section, but I don't want to interrupt the 3DCanvas class threads.

I am literally stuck on a problem that has got me to the point of abandoning this project **!!bang!!** . I have four pilot lights on the side of a signal. This is what they look like when they are animated in 3DCanvas...

And this is what they look like in Railworks...

I've been stuck on this for about a week now, and i've tried everything I know to do: repositioning the individual lights in the IGS, repositioning the Group in the IGS, redoing the animation itself (several times), clearing all .PAK files, deleting and resaving the IGS, IA, and Blueprint files, wiping the preview files from the Kuju preview folder, deleting the files in the Assets folder in game...

Each time, the animations come back exactly the same as before, even though they are working fine in 3DC.

I don't think your thread will interrupt those geeky students so I went ahead and moved your thread. *!greengrin!*

Forgive me for asking, but are you referring to the yellow color?

Not the yellow color, but the pilot (white) lights on the side. They are supposed to come on corresponding to the front flashers, and in 3DCanvas they do. But in Railworks, the #1 light moves sideways, the #2 pilot comes on as normal, the #3 light moves sidways barely, and the #4 pilot wont come on at all. It's like even though i've fixed this in 3DC, Railworks is retaining it in memory somewhere and no matter what I do, the fix doesn't change anything in the game.

I had a similar issue with animations not working correctly when the object being animated had been resized. It was like the original size was being stored somewhere in the grapics program.

I don't know if this is related but I learned very quickly, if you are going to animate something do not ever resize it.

Just for future reference in case someone else experiences this problem, here is the fix:

The four lights were separate objects that were carefully positioned, then grouped together so that only one axis would have to be moved during animation. It is unknown why all parts were in good position in the .igs file but moved out of position in the .ia file. To correct the problem, I had to ungroup each light, reposition, and animate individually.

I think that this was a problem with 3DCanvas. Later in the day, I also had a problem with a different project. The program would not allow me to switch textures from the previous project to textures from the current project. It seemed like 3DC had suddenly developed a super-memory that just wouln't let go of certain data.

Another bug report for Amabilis...
