WIP... just messin' around...

Unread postby CARex » Sun May 05, 2013 11:58 am

This started as a 'let's see if I can do this' project.
In that it's basically a 'balloon on wheels' the face count is astronomical. After I complete it, I think (key word) I can reduce the poly's to an acceptable level. It just won't be as smooth looking.

Still need to add lighting as well.
The rear air intake is on the model... just didn't make it to this pic. I'ts been said that these were the original 'pushers'

Thanx guys... you're too kind.

Pretty much complete now. Gotta raise the destination board.
Rear bumper needs to be lowered a tad. Add some side view mirrors.

Headlight housing could be a bit softer (rounded edges), but that would add a ton of polys.
It was something of an exercise just getting 'em close to what they should look like to begin with.

The challenge now is to reduce the 1400 faces. We'll see how that comes out in a couple days.

Of the things i was never expecting to show up in Railworks, this is certainly pretty high on the list. Some of these actually found their way to Australia, so they'd look right at home on the highways here. Very nice work.

Still a WIP... got it down to about 7000 faces. Should drop dramatically when I replace the wheels and tires with a simpler design. Still need to reduce faces on the rear. Should loose a few hundred more.

Currently painted like those that used to run thru the Hartford Springfield region. At least to the best of my memory.

BTW... There are some fotos on one site or another of Flxibles in Australia.

Hi mate...

Any progress to report on these or, given your avatar, are they possibly likely to find their way onto Michael's New Haven route?

Very nice work either way, and would hate to see them not released given the work you have put into them...

!*cheers*!

Truth be told… this will ultimately find its way to the VNHRR.

Priorities keep getting bumped up and down. This one is in the process of being ‘poly reduced’. I’ve still about a third of it to complete.

Additionally, there are a few other projects on the back burners as well, but they will all find their way to the VNHRR.

Meanwhile, we’ve nearly completed a few Pullmans’. Michael is developing the trucks. A few more tweaks here and there and they’ll be good to go.

Hang in there… things are on the horizon.
