Amabilis support

Unread postby styckx » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:13 am

Has anyone ever had any success with receiving support from these guys?

I purchased 3D Canvas 7 Pro back in Sept 2009, never gave it much of a chance as I was a bit overwhelmed with a lot of things at the time. I got itching to learn some basic modeling stuff recently. Billboards, clutter etc. I noticed 3D Canvas 8 was out and was entitled to the upgrade from 7 at no cost. I apparently never documented my license number which you need to activate the 3D Canvas 8 free up to Pro. I emailed them requesting my license. Providing my Paypal unique Transaction ID and even my SWReg transaction ID, date of purchase and email used.

That was two weeks ago and not peep out of them. Any ideas? Is my license stored in the registry somewhere that I can just hunt down so I can get rolling? I'd much rather learn on the newest version out there instead of something old and then having to adapt to a new version later down the road.

I have 3DCanvas 7 Pro, and 3DCanvas 8, and I prefer 7, the only bad thing about that is there are "nicer" tutorials for 3DCanvas 8 included with the program, but you can find those online. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the two, if that is what you are worried about.\

I've never really e-mailed support, so I can't really help there. (Which kind of kills the point of me posting doesn't it?)

Edit: This may be far fetched, but have you tried looking up the e-mail from SRWig?

I have had limited luck getting some support, but this spring I asked for info about downloading projects to RW and they said something new was coming, but never heard from them again. I have trouble with the automated export, it does whatever it feels like doing, but using the file export and controlling it myself along with transferring my own ace files works well for me. Now if I could just find a tutorial on the 'bend' operation I'd be happy.

Wow, this place must bring good luck. My email notification on my phone just went off, checked it, and wouldn't you know, it was from Amabilis sending me my purchase info and license key!

I've been using 3DC 7 because I had issues with ver 8 doing some strange texturing issues. I believe 8 mostly is a GUI upgrade to 7. I have been thinking of doing some 3DC classes here. I'm not expert on 3DC but I can get a few things done. Time is the big issue though. I'm thinking once a week we all chip in like doing a project togeher and see what we come up with.

I've been using 3DC since it was version 5.7 or so. I've always had reasonably good luck with getting support from Amabilis though sometimes you do have to deal with the fact that Richard at Amabilis does have a Day Job and a Life outside of 3D canvas.

Nothing has ever occurred that has had me decide to quit using 3DC for modeling... but I to have reverted back to 3DC 7.2 while some of the glitches in version 8 get worked out. Ver 8 was having troubles with some of my OLDER models and since I wanted to revisit and update them... well, this became an issue. Using 7.2 had no issues.

Yes, your license IS stored in your registry and you can retrieve it from there.

Things have gotten worse for me. I can't get the lathe tool to save without crashing and I have gotten ZERO response to my emails. !*not-ok*! I am on version 8.2
