Converting .wav to .dav ?

Unread postby NDORFN » Thu Dec 27, 2012 6:41 pm

Couldn't find anything in search. Does anyone know if Audacity can convert .wav to .dav ? What is a .dav anyway? A compressed sound file specific to Railworks? !*don-know!*

You shouldn't need to. All you have to do is open the Proxyxml file calling for whatever .dav file you're looking for, and change (filename).dav to (filename).wav.

I just tried that. Didn't work. I have to go to work in a minute so I'll try again later. Thanks again for the Ram sound you gave me. It's gonna sound great in the game !!*ok*!!

No and yes.
But as BNSFdude said, you shouldn't have to.
Try deleting the dav and keeping only the wav.
Double-check your blueprint.

Make sure you drag the proxyxml into serz.exe to create a new proxybin. *!!wink!!*

I've tried everything, still no go using .wav. Trust me, I'm very particular and vigilant when it comes to editing. The traffic audio is a bit different to any other audio I've played with before and I still don't fully understand how it all fits together. It was a bit of a fluke I got it to work in the first place.

I'll try the converter from UKTrainSim. I'm only 96th in queue !*roll-laugh*! (going to UKTrainSim really make me appreciate what we've got here at RWA!)

Cheers robbit !*cheers*!

It's cool. I'm used to UKTrainSim. It was my mainstay before I discovered RWA.

Still no go. Is there any chance you could please look at the files for me and see if you can find anything obvious?

You don't have convert any mods done to the XML. The audio is read by the XML. You can delete the bin without any consequences.

Oh and don't forget to "clear cache" in main menu/game settings/tools every time you modify a blueprint (including the sound proxyxml).
Otherwise the game won't see your changes.

To make it quicker, you can just delete the blueprints.pak file for the asset that you are editing.
