Hello, I just recently purchased 3DC Pro V 9.2.2 and I am attempting to export my new test piece but I don't know which format to choose. I have seen in some of the tutorials online that there is a trainsimulator format, but it is not showing up on my export menu. Any thoughts?

First you need to download the extras under 'Help > Download 3DCrafter Trainworks Extras' and install it. Then you need to turn on under 'Tools > Options > Misc.' and check 'Enable Trainworks Features'

Are there any basic tutorials out there for getting simple objects into the game? I am trying to follow one I found and it's really confusing me.

Ok, the Blueprint Editor keeps telling me that it cannot find my .ace file. I converted my .png to a .ace and placed it in the Source/Developers folder. I have tried several time and have not had any luck. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I was writing a tutorial, but I never finished it.

I'll open it again soon.

But really, if Papaexpress has the time I think it would be best if he taught you some of the steps.

Also, png won't work, it has to be a bmp file for the textures and to export it from 3D Crafter the best way is to use the Train Simulator Wizard and set it to export to Railworks, after that you will put the files in your source folder.

*!!thnx!!*

Re:- .png - I think that's one of the parts where I was going wrong, I had to use RWacetool (which didn't like the jpg idea so i used png) but the tutirial i found had toace, thought i'd use some common sense but hit a barrier, i shall try the bmp method tomorrow when my brain is more wide awake :)

The tutorials on my blog may help you with exporting. With ACE creation you need to be careful. First off if you are using Photoshop there is an ACE plugin I would highly recommend. If you are using RWAceTool then you are limited to a number of files types (but others have covered this).

What you need to remember...

If your shader needs to use the Alpha channel, you must have an alpha channel in your ACE, which means the source file weather its BMP (32bit), or TGA needs to have the alpha as well. Without it you will get a DXT1 RGB texture.

I finally has success exporting and writing a blueprint for it. It went into the game just fine. Thanks for all the input!!! Hopefully soon, there will be some new assets for all to use. Nothing fancy though, at least not yet.

I am trying to export a building from 3DS and I am getting a message saying that all of the surfaces need to have textures. I am not seeing any holes so to speak. Is there any way of identifying where this may be? I have been working hard at this building and really want it to work.

This means that there is a face on your model which is not mapped to a texture file. How did you unwrap or "paint" your model?

I used the paint bucket tool to I guess wrap it, it that is what you mean and then I am using the brush tool to go back and put the details on it. I have looked around briefly but cannon find an unmapped face. I will have to keep at it. I even tried to invert the shape and fill the inside faces but that just undid all the work on the outside I have already accomplished.
