Retexturing a loft

Unread postby NDORFN » Mon Apr 02, 2012 9:57 pm

Lets say I wanted to create my own loft for use with Scalerail. If I use a default loft and copy the guts of it to my developer folder but leave out the shape file, then replace the textures with ones suited to Scalerail and alias the shape file to the location of the default one, that's not illegal right? It's just a reskin of a loft !*don-know!*

I don't think that would work, you would have to re-texture it with a paint program as far as I know.

It wouldn't work because it's a different blueprint, textures from one item won't work on another item since the textures won't set themselves. Basically, once in RW your object would result with the missing textures on it and not the textures you want to see.

That's as far as I know, hope that helped.

I had a look at the one used in BOQ and found the original package called BarnRS_Package_1 at rw-trainsim.co.uk. It's an awesome package, both embankments and cuttings in a variety of shapes using textures that blend really well with default textures. No ballast textures though, so it appears Jason "reskined" one of them. I'm going to need one with ballast textures so I'll keep at it 'till I've figured it out or hopefully can get in touch with Jason and ask how he did it.

P.S The BarnRS lofts are worth aquiring. especially if you're like me and can't stand floating tracks and roads.
