Overhead Steam logging Skidder cableway

Had an idea for a lofted object not sure if its possible. One end would be the skidder spar some of the models just used a spruce pole newer models used a steel latticed pole up to 85' in height. The other end could be the anchor point a stump the cable would wrap around. The idea would be to have an eventual steam powered skidder mounted on a railcar once on your siding you could just use the editor to place your lines similar to placing utility lines and bingo you have a static steam powered log skidder. We already have an awesome log loader. Is this something anyone is interested in. I can provide pictures and some knowledge but that’s about as far as I can go.

Here is a link that shows some pictures of the spar and cable. The detail shots I would have to scan from a book I have at home. But these should give some idea.

This link is to the home page where there is a wealth of info. If and when Tori decides to extend here Greenbrier branch beyond its current location the Shays and logging assests will all fall nicely into place.

Dick, do you think this would be possible for someone to do? I don't know anything about creating this stuff.

I imagine it would be possible to create an asset that first drug a load of logs across the landscape, and then loaded on a log car. You can not do one log at at time, it would have to be the whole car load.

It could not be part of a moveable railcar, if mounted on a railcar, the railcar would have to be modeled as a scenery item.

I am still thinking about it.

As far as it being a static scenery piece that would be fine with me. We already have a great log loader crane that would the cars. I just more or less would like to see a way to maybe have someone model a railcar skidder that can be moved like a regular car. Once onsite the spar/line loft object can be placed. Here are a few crappy shots of how I do it now it's very time consuming since we have nothing in the game right that is close to what we need in terms of equipment. For the spar I just used 2 I beams placed together to look square. For the line I'm using an old Telegraph loft that at the right length the pole doesnt appear. So it gives the illusion at a distance of a continuous line but is really many pcs. Thanks for the thoughts if anyone needs any pictures I have some I would have to scan but do have some better referance photos.
