This SceniCruiser is suitable for most any modern route staged after 1950.

We hope that by providing the Blender source, it may lure would-be modelers into the wild, and provide input for the ongoing discussion on effective development techniques. The source will also make it easier for Artists to apply more advanced painting, and additional details as needed.

Can you make some freeware 1950's cars and trucks to go with that, for those that don't have horseshoe curve, or don't want to use the assets on there route.

Very nice! Now for some '50s school buses, trucks, and maybe a firetruck or two? This whole game has no American fire engines, what's supposed to put out all the simulated fires? :P

Those Bel-Aires are handsome! I will ultimately circle back and give them a try, following the same method: publish a stock model with the Blender source so folks can apply their own paint jobs and flourishes.

The models I have planned for my own route include a front end loader, construction crane, cement mixers & cement works, dump trucks of various makes, a back hoe, a road grader, Big Bertha steam shovel. Anything that digs in dirt, really. Fire engines as well; I have noticed there is nothing. So, also add a fire house. Plus cars and trucks from all eras. Done right, my route could be construed as the land that time forgot for a spell, where nothing really changed between 1950 and the information age. The SceniCruiser was a natural fit.

Her is the front end loader's progress. I spent some time learning blender bones to get the pistons to rig correctly. The helps with posing, and paves the way to animation.

One suggestion if I may. Could you include chains to secure the front loader to a flat car as a child object?

Oooo, chains! They are going to have to be thick, this thing is not light! Can you give me some idea of orientation and layout that would be realistic? Are the chains treated as a separate model, or are they part of a "special" loader model designed just for the flats? This seems like a crucial skill to learn.

And I love the idea! We daersn't have the things laying all over the mountsides now do we?

Maybe a model of the loader with the bucket separated? I've seen them shipped on flatcars like that.

Once you build those bel aires I'm going to try a 50's style route, and use some of my buildings in it.
