There's a new shader that's meant to mitigate that, but I don't remember the name. I'm pretty sure it'll be in Derek's post.
Also, push the Mip LOD bias down. Try -1 to start with.

LoftPostDPPTexDiffSpec
Use this when lofts have very thin lateral elements that cause visible sub-pixel flickering.
Example
Lofted catenary wires, lofted telegraph wires, simple lofted wire fence
That's from UKTrainSim. I've not tried this yet, so I don't know how to get it to work. The disappearing at a distance is also visible in the fences and power lines that are default as well.

ok that is my project tonight i guess is the fences, i have a good texture for the barbed wire as well, and may even do razor wire coils later on,
basically i am just doing alot to learn the ins and outs as well,
i'll make these modular, with gates of diferent kinds as well

Used to be upping the multiplier of your AA settings would fix this kind of thing.

i switched to Blendatexdif and did the mip bias -1.0
looks better and the texture was made as least complex as possible
the disapearance is gone but there is still some moire as you pull out

Ariz is right as well about the AA. A couple of years back a user was trash talking some of my houses about the moire, and I got all worried about it and started trying ways to make it go away. Found out the best way was to get a better graphics card. That made it all better! But then RW3 came along and it all went to chiat again...
I wouldn't sweat it to much. The affect may be better or worse than your experience, depending upon end-user hardware. That fence in the photo looks great to me as it is because its better than anything default we have so far.

Ok Barbed wire will be a little more difficult
it really gets blurry especially when viewing the sky

OK Fixed,
TrainPostDPPObjectDiffuse is your friend

the corners with the barbed wire are about 600 Polys and the others are a little lower - love polygon cruncher :)

Looks great Jason!
Would you also consider making a good old fashioned country barbed wire fence? Perhaps two versions, one with metal posts and the other wood.
Regards,
Trevor

Great job on the fence. The only thing I must point out is, the diagonal braces you have on your gates are wrong. The brace has to be on the bottom of the hinge side to the top of the other side. That way, when the swing side of the gate tries to sag, the brace is pushing against the post.
