Tips and discussion about scenery creation for RailWorks.

Disappearing Object

Unread postby dick8299 » Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:22 am

I am creating a new loading dock for TS2017, and am having some problem with an object node disappearing as you get close to the object. (Note this is a work in progress so no fair commenting on textures etc.)

From a distance the entire model is present:

Move a little closer and the drivers right arm disappears:

A little closer and the left arm disappears:

Finally, closer still and the entire driver disappears:

None of the other nodes on the forklift disappear no matter how close you get, only the driver.

I am open to any and all suggestions.

I used 3DS Max 2016 for the fork lift model, but imported the driver into the scene from my original freight dock created in 3DCanvas and then exported the entire model from 3DS Max into Railworks.

Re: Disappearing Object problem solved

I started taking a close look at the geopcdx file using RWTools, and noted an entry for the problem nodes called Radius that had a smaller number than the other nodes. I increased that value to 20 and low and behold, the Forklift driver does not disappear, even when I am right on top of him.

Disappearing objects also result from an incorrectly placed Pivot point, which must be in the center of the object.
