Slightly odd request, cemeteries and tombstones? Or marble?

I'm in very early working stages on a pet project, the Georgia Northeastern Railroad. Across the access road from their maintenance facilities is an incredible old cemetery, the kind with beautiful statues and huge monuments made of marble and granite, it dates to the early 1800's and belongs to a prominent family from the county.

Are there any such assets to be found in the game, possibly even from a European route?

Also any quarried marble assets? I've found some quarry pit scenery from Phorum Peninsula and other routes; and granite loads from the Central Vermont route but I would love some marble to accurately model the local industry.

Well I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for in regards to the cemeteries/tombstones, but I do know that the G-Trax Portland Terminal and DTG New Jersey Coastline routes have such things that you can use. !*don-know!*

There are some on the Cimarron and Pacific at Eagle's Nest. Gary (ggardner) should be able to tell you where they're from.

Thanks for the tips, I have all of those routes so I'll start snooping in the assets tonight probably. These are some pics of the cemetery.

Any suggestions for marble/limestone blocks or aggregate loads? Like many other routes this is probably going to be a long slow process so I'm open to advice on how to make my own too. A block has to be one of the easier starting points for learning how to model right?

Have a look on the old freeware German route by Siegfried Derks, called Altenburg-Wildau. If you look in the Assets folders at the one named SAD, there are 2 folders in there called graveyard and clutter, I'm sure you'll find some scenery assets of use, a statue of the Virgin Mary, some tombstones, a small fountain I think, some headstones, a grave, etc, etc.
There was an old Hearse available freely many years ago, it might be a British model, so, unsure if it would look right on an American route.

Click on the orange box that says Herunterladen = Download. It is the whole pack including the route, I'm afraid, so, it's about a 350mb download.

You are quite right, cutting stone is Bob's specialty.

Perhaps he can cut some replica headstones in virtual stone, or perhaps supply some nice pattern to one of our resident asset creators?

I make monuments in the real world not fantasy land. Up in Barre,Vermont where Rock of Ages is, they have a small railroad. Granite slabs are quarried and put on the flat cars. They then go through a large and long building that has 40 foot grinding wheels and they polish the entire slab right on the flat car. It actually goes through 8 different weights of the grinding to get it polished. Granite polishing is similar to getting wood ready to varnish, the finer the grit of your sandpaper the smoother and shinier the wood becomes, same with granite. Then they are chopped into smaller pieces with giant claws. Then they go into the factory where they are whittled down further into different styles of monuments. Over 150 guys are working on these up there.

If I can ever get RW running right again and get Crafter back up and running, I'll see if I can build any of these.

The Barre railroad was and is quite the interesting line. Required a switchback just to get from Montpelier to the quarry.
