I reviewed a web pop up ad for this application, and it said it had a free version for students and hobbyists. Does anyone know if it supports the plug ins for RailWorks? And is it really free for hobbyists and will allow export to RailWorks?

This looks really good.
Makes mesh making easier and exports stl's.
Did my store in ProE and exported it to Blender to texture:

Find it quicker to build mesh in engineering/parametric software.

I just downloaded and installed Fusion 360, and licensed it for a "hobbyist". The free license lasts for 1 year, at which time I can renew it. After spending a couple of hours with the software, it seems fairly easy to use and figure out. Has some of the functionality of 3D Crafter with an easier to follow user interface, along with some of the simplicity of Sketchup. I was able to export a simple cube shape out of Fusion as an stl file, and import it into 3D Crafter 9.3 without any difficulty. The interesting thing is that Fusion offers an igs format export, and when I tried to import this into 3D Crafter (it offers an igs import with the Trainworks option), an error message came up and the import failed. Still, the stl import worked. I'll keep playing around with the two as time is available, but this maybe another viable option worth exploring. Just my two cents worth... and after taxes... one cent.

Played with the program for a bit.
Really powerful for making models. Very easy to use.

Yes, there is another IGS format. It is not the same as Kuju IGS so don't go wracking your head trying to get it to work... I think we have all given it a try with no success.
