So this is like a modern day turntable, but it moves back and forth to get the engines out of their sheds and onto the outgoing track. Pretty cool idea actually. Altho, I do love the old style roundhouses.

Not that modern an idea - the traverser outside the A Shop at the Swindon works of the Great Western Railway (UK) came into use in 1920.
