Grouping Assets

Unread postby PolyesterMafia » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:07 am

If you are developing freeware assets that can be found in bulk in the real world - vehicles, semi-trailers, junk, trees, houses, etc. - in addition to individual units, please consider grouping them into lines and blocks of 2, 3, 5,10, and 20 in rigid and flex. As a rigid group, you will have to group each unit together in your modeling program, but they will count as only one asset in the game. As a flexible group, you will have to put them together as children in the Blueprint Editor, and each unit will count as an individual asset in the game. But, they will follow the terrain to compensate for uneven ground.

This will greatly speed up building for route developers in areas where lots of a particular kind of asset are needed.
