Does anybody know the fundamental differences between this Ver 5 and the Ver 5 that Terry (Coaltrain1) is hosting via his site? This version appears about 50 meg larger in the download size. Not sure if I need to use another swathe of my data allowance and get thsi version.

!*cheers*!

(ps: great to see new life in this route)

This is completely different than the Beta 5 that I have from Tori's old web site. The track is different, There is more completed scenery. Signals are different. And so on. Station at Covington is also different. It may be that this was what was being worked on and not posted when Tori left RW.

That may be true but that wasn't the question. The question was is it different from the one hosted at Coaltrain1 site.

The version I have and the version I sent to Bob is not the Beta 5 / This is the last or Final version via the Name Alleghany V.5 .(Not beta) If you have the Beta version then you do not have all of Tori's work. This is a stand alone install read the read me it's in the download. I hope that clarifies any questions as to what or what not Alleghany V.5 is..

I just installed V5 and am confused as to what I've really got, as RWTools listed a whole bunch of missing assets (mostly scenery) and a E8A loco and its associated rolling stock. I have ALL of the required folders/files that are listed in the readme. My decompressed folder says "Allegheny 5, with no mention of Beta. However, from the readme, here is what it says.

"This beta 5.0 version will NOT overwrite your already installed COA beta 4.5, so any additions or modifications you may have made to the 4.5 version or scenarios for it will be preserved."

Well, I had v4.5 installed and after the installation of v5, 4.5 was completely missing from my Routes folder. Also, RWTools lists a total of 8 scenarios. The only ones that appear in the menu are the Standard "GW Cov to Ron" and Freeroam "Hinton". I'm guessing that the remaining 6 scenarios were not completed. Hope someone can clarify what is going on here.

Thanks

I read a similar post on UKTS about a person who checks everything with RW Tools before he plays the route etc ( I think it might of been JTs Railjet) and found various items missing according to RW Tools. Someone replied that they more than likely were not missing that the author had forgotten to remove the entry's after deciding not to use the assets. Have you run the route yet ?

Thanks Trev, and yes, I have run the route. As mentioned above, the only free roam listed in the menu is "Hinton" and that does run and as I can so far see, no scenery assets are missing. The only other listed scenario in the menu is the standard "GW-Cov to Ron" and that will not load as it is missing the E8A loco and the associated rolling stock, which is baggage and passenger cars. I thought maybe they might have come from Britkits so I D/L'd them from Dick's site but the error message still appears when trying to run that scenario. Don't know where that E8A and rolling stock comes from.

Chris

Update:
Been doing a little poking around in the GW Cov to Ron scenario and noticed in the loco file path that indeed Britkits is listed for the E8. I was also not seeing the loco pic displayed in the menu which lead me to look at the scenario properties file and the text showed this:

<FilePathd:type="cDeltaString">Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\E8\cno-E8\Engine</FilePath>

In my Britkits folder, there is no "cno-E8" entry. I replaced it with what I have for a file path which is "default" and a pic showed up that I had randomly chosen from another "loco information" folder. I have a hunch this is just the tip of the iceberg for corrections/updates/additions to bring this version to full operational status.

OK Buzz, found and installed it. I went to Dick's website, d/l'd and installed the passenger car set, but still get the error message that both the E8A and passenger cars can not be found in RW's. I was able to create an image of the E8 for the menu that i found in your folder.

Stand alone? Quoted from the readme file:

From DTG/RSC (Steam DLC store) you need:
1) European Loco and Asset Pack (Includes the Kuju RailSimulator and RSDL Foliage provider products)
2) U.S. Loco and Asset Pack (Includes the Kuju RailSimulatorUS and RSDL Foliage provider products)

=========================
The following third-party content can be installed in any order:

From the 3DTrains.com website you need:
1) RS Rural Landscapes, low resolution freeware version available at http://www.3dtrains.com/products/rs1/ru ... pes1.shtml

2) RS ScaleRoad, low resolution freeware version available at http://www.3dtrains.com/products/rs1/scaleroad.shtml

From the RailworksAmerica.com website you need...
1) RCAP 2 - The Railworks Community Asset Project - http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/rcap

From either the TrainSim.com or UKTrainSim.com website you need:
1) UKTS Freeware Pack - Clutter
2) UKTS Freeware Pack - Commercial
3) UKTS Freeware Pack - Housing
4) UKTS Freeware Pack - Industrial
5) UKTS Freeware Pack - Railway Buildings
6) UKTS Freeware Pack - Blocks and Lofts
7) UKTS Freeware Pack - Terrain Textures

In my reality, stand alone means nothing else required beyond the downloaded installation package itself: all assets included. I'm aware that this is seldom true of 3rd-party packages, but when it is not true, the package cannot be termed "stand alone"!

He probably means this is a full install, no patches or previous version needed, no separate asset pack like with v4.5.
Of course any 3rd-party content must be installed separately.
