XDriver

OT: I don't recall if you already published your RSC 4-6-6-4 Challenger repaint in C&O livery as shown in your award winning screenshot. At least I can't find it in my archives. Joe, do you still have your beautiful work available for an upload to the library? I would love to have it pulling my coal drags on Tori's COARW v4.5 (and v5.0 when ready).

I don't have it nor those coal cars. They may not be proto but they sure do look good to me!

VRC? Drawing a blank.

Mike, which models are those? They don't look quite like the Zimmer repaints I have (on which Shayfan just finished fixing the numbering issue, btw)???

I should post a little update....

Extraordinarily bad weather and many computer problems around here have really disrupted my normal life lately, so I've not worked on the route now for at least a couple of weeks. Instead I've been replacing lots of batteries, hauling in a lot of firewood, burning candles and reading books. Oh, and going to bed at dark, lol. Since we got electricity back, I've restored another laptop (did 1 before the power went out for days), and now a desktop in the house blew up its hard drive. Before all of that, I spent a month sorting through mountains of rolling stock collected over 5 years trying to discern what is still viable and what is acceptable to use in a few scenarios to package with the route. In that regard, I finally developed a new "stable" and I also decided to include only minimal scenarios in the route package, instead posting CSX-family scenarios separately so folks can install only the stuff they have rolling stock for. More about that in the future.

I'm pretty much done with the building of the mainline from Hinton to Covington. The next step is mostly about driving the route looking for any remaining minor issues and correcting them. However, I acquired some really cool yard signaling assets and have decided they are worth a notable amount of rework in 3 sizable yards. There are about 20 miles of track still needing scenery, plus two sizable towns to complete. There is still no lighting or sound anywhere in the route.

What this translates to is quite a bit more time.... a few more building weeks and then some testing time. I'm afraid the Spring equinox will not bring a release date.

We are also including a "Cheat Sheet" for each scenario, for just in case you accidentally washed yourself with your wife's feminine soap this morning and cannot complete the missions.

It has been a bit of time since you posted any updates. Is there any news on how the route is coming along?

Haven't made a lot of progress this month, but getting closer a little at a time. The track is complete, so I'm now making test runs looking for problems. Unfortunately, I found a few small things and a couple of biggies. At some point some of the Greenbrier sub track got "flattened" and is now underground; I don't think it will take long to dig it up though. A road also "sprung" underground so there are car tops running through a crossing, lol. And apparently I don't have the crossing gates "wired right" since those cars continue right through a train... also kinda funny to watch. I spent a few days tinkering with weather, skies and particularly night skies; found out there's not much I can do about the things that bother me, so I've moved on from that.

Since moving the route to 2014 I've had a couple of issues that I guess are due to construction age and TS changes... if I try to adjust an Asset Block, like to change the tree type or density, it crashes. Just yesterday I started learning how to make Quickdrive work on the route, which appears to not require any special provisions at the routebuilding level, so I guess I can soon move back to, sighhhh, scenery.

I haven't taken screen shots because I want to shoot most of them in new areas which is where, of course, the scenery isn't done yet. The manual still needs some work which I plan to start posting pieces of that here as soon as I'm ready to pass the route out to some beta testers.

Personally, I've been having some eye strain so after an eye exam just this afternoon, I'll be able to see better in a couple of weeks when my new specs arrive. Don't give up on me... I really am going to get this thing done!
