Milepost Simulations is pleased to announce its first product - The Fraser and Cariboo Route

The Fraser and Cariboo Route will feature a portion of the former British Columbia Railway/BC Rail north from Lillooet, British Columbia in the Fraser River Canyon to the Cariboo region of Central British Columbia in Western Canada. The first section of the route features the climb out of the highly scenic Fraser River Canyon on a long 2.2% grade one of the longest and steepest grades in North American and then into the forests of the Cariboo region where the route ends around 70 Mile House which is around 70 miles north of Lillooet along the railway.

It is planned for the route to use repaints of default rolling stock which will be released as freeware and used in the scenarios which come with the route. Currently we have a Caboose and Tank Car pack up for downloads. It is planned to add the SD40-2 and Boxcar repaint soon.

It is hoped to release the route in the next few weeks.

The BC Rail livery is going to take some getting used to.

Very Nice, I"m looking forward to this route For anyone interested, Pentrex offers a couple of really nice DVD's on the BCOL. If I remember correctly at the time the DVD's were filmed, school children still rode the train to Lillooet to attend school. They even named the train the "Bud" "Wiser" because it was an old Bud car and they were riding it to get wiser

The 'school train' does still run but with a railbus type thing however works to south of Lillooet where there is poor road access to the north side of Seton Lake. The route features the section to the north of Lillooet.

The route is now fully signalled to allow AI traffic however as the line is train orders territory all the signals are hidden below ground so F4 needs to be pressed to check for permission to proceed.

Thanks for the update and I was wondering how you were going to handle the dark territory of the BCOL. The route is looking great Are all of the switches manual like on the prototype? I'm looking forward to this route as I've been a fan of the BC Rail. One last question, will you be extending the route to include the Tumbler Branch? and extending the route South to the main shops at Squamish?

The switches are all manual.

The plan is just to feature the 70 miles or so from Lillooet to 70 Mile House, with the first 35 miles having a 20 mph speed limit it takes around 2 hours to drive the entire route which I think is long enough. The route coves from around milepost 156 to 225 the Tumbler Branch goes off the main line at milepost 537 which is over 300 miles north! It is easy to forgot how long BC Rail is!

This gets better every day.
