New/Re-released products coming from searchlight simulations

Unread postby Unoriginal » Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:43 am

Checked their store today, seems they're working on working on making some new pages for new and old products on their site. https://www.store.searchlight-simulations.com/products

Highlights included the SS CP SD70ACU (Bundle or single livery), freight car pack 3, the UP AC4400CW (I don't know if this was already there or not), a possible NS SD70ACU and freight car pack 4, and the NS/CR and UP SD40-2 bundles releasing again.

Btw none of the product pages work as of posting this.

Waiting for the SD70ACU and the new rolling stock pack. Excellent quality. I have been watching the promo videos.

I've found out that the BN SD40-2 pack isn't listed because there was a bug with it that would cause the CP AC4400CW and the BNSF SD40-2s to crash.

Thank you for sharing this info with us. Any idea when their product pages will be operational again?

Already announced a bug or two. Does that mean everyone will start trashing them like everything that comes out of DTG? !*roll-laugh*!

I'd say it just depends on how severe the bug is, they said it was rare to happen so. !*don-know!*

Nope, because at least Searchlight Simulations intends on fixing their bugs and has the product correct the first time around. DTG will release something that doesn't work or is inaccurate and never bother to update it.

Your statement is inaccurate.

HIS and Searchlight Simulations produce different products with different detail levels and skill levels. Most digital products have some issues on release. No matter how many times they are tested in house, until they get into the field, some issues don't show up. What really counts is the speed to which they are addressed. Developers have been slowly pushing modeling to the upper limits of the game software and adding detail and more prototypical in cab operation to their products. If it wasn't for pushing the envelope we would still be playing MSTS.

I wonder when they intend to bring back the SD40s (excluding BN) and the AC44 back up for sale. I'm excited for the NS ACU as well.

I agree with what EngineerTJ and AmericanSteam are saying, but I think that discussion should just be taken elsewhere.

I disagree with this statement. TS has far far better graphics than MSTS had in its best day. If for no other reason this is a far superior game.

If it wasn't for pushing the envelope we would still be playing MSTS.You misinterpreted what I said. I was inferring that if it wasn't for developers wanting to improve the hobby and their products then we would still be playing MSTS.

Since this thread is not about HIS and since I don't believe HIS is even mentioned in this thread prior, I'm not sure what the relevance of your post is, other than to stir a pot that's already been stirred to death.
