SP GP40X??

Unread postby cnwfan » Sat Apr 02, 2022 8:07 pm

Just in case you haven't visited the Travel by Train website lately... banner from their home page. Perhaps there is a SP GP40X with elephant ears in our future?

They have been discussing it on their FB page now for over a month.... I have been wondering about it too!

Now available on the Travel by Train website. Based on the pics it looks like both with and without elephant ears versions are included. Even mentions that PSD files are included for repaints... just in case Adriana County purchased the units second hand from the SP / UP.

There is also a SP / UP combo pack.

Adriana County RR latest power. Put to work so quickly the paint shop only had time to do a short term re-badging job seen here on their first run out to Lawson (w-i-p) seen here in front of the Michigan Paper plant (w-i-p) at Lawson.

I really like this locomotive....but the paint seems "unfinished" on the Elephant Ear version. I sent a report. Great locomotive though!

I had a feeling that Adriana County would pick up these units. And I'll be picking mine up later tonight. Glad to hear good reports so far.

Adriana County took the ears off and removed the remote gear from exSP 7230, put it through the paint shop and sent it on a test run to One Tree Hill. Here our erstwhile correspondent caught it at Scurlock during a short stop on that test run.

I just drove my UP-SD40X.
I can confirm the good sound.
I have to criticize the white window panes, fortunately you can easily correct that yourself.
The display of the gauges in tunnels, however, is a disaster: you simply can not see anything.
I hope TBT reads this and corrects this on this loco.

My experience is that direct communication has no effect. I have the impression that only public pressure helps.
My proof for above post:
