Wasnt sure just where to puit this. For those not keeping up with the news via Mikes Farcebook page, now that the BigBoy is finished and off to DTG, he has been working on updating a couple of earlier projects. He has undertaken an update to the sounds for the FEF 800's, utilizing some techniques he developed for the Big Boy project which he says will bring us all better sounds

(not that I thought there was anything of an issue with the original ones) which he must have finished because he has moved on to a tweak to the 1880's locomotives for the Promontory route. Using something called a Trainubershader, it has produced some remarkable results in relation to polished metals

(also reflecting some of teh latest research on the locomotives colours)
I have absolutely no idea what an ubershader is or how it works or how you use it, but it has certainly made a difference to all that brass. Like all of Mikes tweaks, it will just update your steam installation when available, although it might be available via here first

(EDIT: updated latest "after" pic)
