Last chance to buy IHH DLC locomotives on Steam!

Unread postby micaelcorleone » Sun Feb 13, 2011 8:16 am

RailSimulator.com today announced that from Tuesday February 15th, 2011, the company will no longer sell add-ons produced by Iron Horse House(IHH) via the Steam shop. RailSimulator.com CEO Paul Jackson said, ‘We have greatly enjoyed our relationship with IHH, but our companies are growing and developing different objectives. It is time for us both to move on and build on our successes. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank IHH for their past support, and wish them well in the future’. RailWorks 2 Train Simulator users who already purchased add-ons developed by IHH via RailSimulator.com’s Steam Shop will be unaffected by this change. From 15th February the following products will no longer be available from our Steam Shop: Class 56, 9F, Class 45, Class 20 and Big Boy.

No good news. *!sad!* I wonder why IHH chose to make this step?

In all fairness to RS.com and Sly, let's not start any wild speculation on this issue. *!!wink!!*
Let's just wait to see what Sly has to say, if he has anything to say about it. !*cheers*!

They will still be available on his own website as they have been the whole time.

Edit: deleted a sentence, not very nice one - sorry

HI Guys

I asked for the IHH products to be withdrawn from STEAM, quite simply the two differnt marketing stratagies leave neither of us the freedom to develop the way we want...
The agreement to seperate them is entirely amicable and will be for the benefit of both developers and customers, I am sure the excellent working relationship we have will only be enhanced.

As to newcomers not having direct access, I see IHH primarily developing for the enthusiast sector of the market with a comprehensive integrated catologue covering specific genre's and era's.
It is my belief that it would not take an enthusiastic newcomer long to discover the products with such things as Youtube etc... I can now also develop my own communication channels.

Possibly the down side for you guys is that I am unlikely to develop any USA stock this year. sorry I did take the plunge but for now I must concentrate on my core series.

In the case of smaller third party developers, I would rather buy direct anyways. I get better customer support and can provide direct feedback if there are any issues, rhather than go thru Steam and they tell me to contact the third party anyways. !**duh*!! As for updates on new products, this is the place I watch anyways. Less Railworks stuff on the Steam store page, the less trolls that harass us in the RW/ Steam Forum. !!*ok*!!

Thanks for the update, Sly. I'm still enjoying the Duchess, what a beautifully done locomotive! Now to see how fast I can get her going. Hmmm, may get a speeding penalty or 3. !*salute*!
