Progress continues, mainly the completion of two of the most iconic landmarks of Mojave - Mike's Roadhouse Cafe and the Mojave Chamber of Commerce (ex-SP) caboose.

End of an era, as both are now gone. Mike passed away a few years ago, and the new owners of the property demanded that the city get the caboose out of the parking lot. They did so sometime last year and placed it a block away in an area across from the Mojave Bank. The lot will eventually will become a city and cultural park.
I don't know what will become of Mike's old building though. The city is currently undergoing a major facelift of all the remaining shops along Sierra Hwy, and the old structure may or may not be raised. Also, the owners of Gardner Realty have commissioned a mural to be painted by local artist Keith Quirk on the south wall near where the old caboose once stood (
