It's scary how I had to look at some of these screenshots again to make sure they weren't real pictures. I'm loving how this is coming along, and who knows what 3rd party American content can be made. It's all a matter of time.

From Discord -
Early morning at Katowice station, express train begins an almost 300 km journey to Warsaw. SimRail will give you the opportunity to cover the entire route!
Speed - 200 km/h
The route takes about 2.5 h.
The train will be equipped with an operational ETCS system.

Yes, indeed. And the level and qualify of trackside details shows so much more promise over TSW2's.

Each time a new rail simulation program comes along ,my number one question is, can I easily import DEM and build a prototype route? Number two, what is the difficulty level for custom content? It looks beautiful, but nothing has made me abandon this platform, yet.

Modern game engines are geared towards DRM and locking down content to make the game play on the consoles and prevent cheating.
As if one can, wants and needs to cheat in driving trains, LOL

Nevertheless, some insight into creative possibilities for players would be welcome.

Yes, when SDK is available you can.

Modern games requires some skill set to start with - Blender, Substance Painter, C# etc.

God Rays - (Volumetric lighting, also known as “god rays”, is a technique used in 3D computer graphics to add lighting effects to a rendered scene)

Even demo version looks better than TSW, which is 7 years ahead in development. !!*ok*!!

A freeware preview edition of Simrail was out on Steam today. I downloaded it and plugged it into NVIDIA and not very impressed with the graphics. I will sat TSW2 looks better at least with my graphics card.

Hopefully some USA routes will be made by them or someone. The only routes I’m really interested in outside of America is Australia. I’ve never done a deep dive into how much easier Unity is to work with than Unreal engine. If they actually have a working editor, they will be way ahead of TSW in that respect.

As for the graphics? From the pics it looks pretty decent, but some of the models have a very slight TRAINZ look to them. The bloom lighting is a bit too much, but the Unity engine has always been annoyingly over the top in the bloom department for years. The sunset god-rays looks cool, but at the same time they are a little over the top too. Kind of reminds me of the first TANE announcement videos that looked way better than the final sim that was actually released.

Can’t try it until I get my new laptop, but I’ll trust you guys to give me an idea of the good and the bad of it. I’m just happy there is some more competition in sim market. They might convince me to get it on that fact alone. !!*ok*!!

It's good to have a free demo out, so the developers can collect remarks, errors and suggestions for improvement.

Have installed the demo too, and so far agree as to how it looks, anti-aliasing needs to be improved. This screenshot is with SMAA, which in my eyes gives the nicest picture.

Have played a little with the AA options, but not yet found a satisfactory setting.
In TS20xx and TSWx, I have MSAA at 2X, which, together with a fps capped at 30, provides a decent picture and game play on my 3 GHz PC nVidia 970Ti with already older and thus slower LCD monitor.

I believe a lot of those Eastern Europe studios come from Trainz, and since Tz isn't going anywhere, are now putting their efforts and resources in other game engines.

Does Unity expose a lot of variables you can play with and tweak?

Those that run it at max settings…. Give us an idea of what frame rates you are getting. Also are there many stutters as you travel? Similar to tile loading hiccups in TS. I’ll assume most will be at 1080p res, but the 1440p and 4K guys chime in too with your frame rates. How much of the route do you get in the demo? What’s the instal size?
