RW is late releasing an addon, who would have thunk it! *!rolleyes!*

I was really looking forward to this one today. !*hp*!

I am disappointed too. Maybe they are stuck at a Red Signal and they can't pass...

I too am disappointed, of course. I received no communication from RS.com about this and first found out about the delay here. The implication in Simon's tweet is that the problem was with Steam. I guess that's happened before. Please continue to monitor the RW site for the most up to date information.

If you're not afraid of tsunamis you can come over to my place and run the route on my machine!

If I still lived in OC I would have made the trip and took you up on the offer. !*salute*!

I just don't like STEAM. If any add-on is available direct from the developer, I'll buy it there instead. That's what I did with Rich's routes.

Thanks for this detaied information, which I only discovered today. Short freight-centered routes like this are exactly what I love and I'll be buying this one as soon as it's available. I'm especially looking forward to James Friedland's scenarios and to opportunities to write some of my own for this route. I hope that the arrival delay doesn't last long and wish all of you a speedy and successful release! By the way, I'll be purchasing it through RS because I trust their Steam-related update system. I've never had any difficulties with Steam and just don't understand those who complain about it.

I realize that some folks like STEAM and that's ok. My concerns are these:

1. For some unknown reason recently, my computer lost the saved steam password. It took two days for support to reset my password. That's really poor.
2. In the more recent versions of the steam client, I cannot find a way to turn off automatic updating. I'm on limited bandwidth, so I really need control over when big items are downloaded. Now, there may be a way to do this in the most recent client, but in general, I find the design of the steam client to be very poor.
3. Call me old school, but I'm just not a big fan of these systems that take control out of the consumer's hands. The only actual proof of purchase I have is an email. If something were to happen with the data stored at steam, it would be difficult to recover the software I've purchased.

I think there is also a trust issue, as Tom mentions. I completely trust RailSimulator.com. I have no reason to trust Valve and their Steam system. It's intrusive, elusive and covert, in my humble opinion.

I hope GTrax is able to offer Portland Terminal as a stand alone purchase in the near future.

There's my two cents.

Thanks,
Don

1. The best way is to write the password down on a paper and store it away safely or you just don't forget it *!!wink!!* .
2. Go to the Library. Rightklick on Railworks2. Klick Properties. Here is a tab called Updates. You can make the changes.
3. You can print an invoice after the purchase.
Your opinion, but also my own in some aspects. Generally I prefer a Box with DVD/BluRay, but as we can see the direct method of downloading gets much more important from day to day.
I also like the advantages that Steam has to offer: It's easy and quick to buy every new game (although ther are some delays sometimes, hmm Portland Terminal hmm *!twisted!* ), quick and easy updates, if you loose your PC or you want a game on another one, just download it from Steam with you account, easy way for a smaller publisher/developer like RS.com to sell their products.
Disadvantages of Steam are: You can't sell your games anymore, you don't have anything in your hands.

So over all I enjoy the advantages of these downloading services as iTunes and Steam, but sometimes with a slightly bad feeling.

P.S. DonR: "There's my two cents." Hehe, reminds me of Kent Brockman's show "My Two Cents" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l84MdfAox0Y&feature=related,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3zGF1kCE_Y)
