The Century 424 was a four-axle, 2,400 hp (1,790 kW) diesel-electric locomotive of the road switcher type. 190 were built between April 1963 and May 1967. Cataloged as a part of Alco's Century line of locomotives, the C424 was intended to replace the earlier RS-27 model and offered as a lower-priced alternative to the C425. Montreal Locomotive Works also built this locomotive as MLW Century 424.

I'm aware, yes. But seeing as there are no routes available through steam that are CN or CP based, I don't plan on making those. Even though there are some planned here, im not making one for those roadnames until they come out. That's why im not doing M&E,, Reading, or any other eastern roads at the moment too.

How's the cab coming?
"If you really needed a diesel locomotive right away, then go ahead and order a ALCO. But if you could wait for real quality, then go for an EMD or a GE".

Good! It's all coming along nicely, but this one may be sidelined. MNNR Called and told me that all of their ALCOs are out of service as the GE's are taking over until traffic picks up. No plans of ever getting rid of them though, so thats good news!

Instead, I'll be scouting for something else. I desperately want to make an SD9 or something, but we already have such nice models out there... There really isn't anything out there to make that I have interest in. I'll just finish the C424, but It'll have to wait for sound.
