They are controlled from the switches on the stand

Great update to a true classic - one that was standing the test of time anyway - love the Geeps.

Thank you Michael

Noticeable improvement on the route, nice skybox, and glad hole is gone. *!!thnx!!*

Sorry, the gauge lights are so dim I did not notice. Headlights only work with H and Shift+H. Headlight switch on the stand, in my case does not work.

The H key seems to work that - agree that the stand switch doesn't on its own. Maybe H key then headlight switch? Not in the sim atm so can't check.

Hi all,

Thanks much for the kind comments and the reports about the headlight buttons.

That headlight switch issue is a strange one -- I can replicate this but I have no idea why the in-cab buttons don't work. The important thing is that the headlights themselves still work, both via the H key and the HUD button, so at least I didn't break any existing functionality. *!embar*!

As long as those light switches remain the only thing that's not quite right, I'm temped to leave this as it is and not bother DTG with yet another patch/update. !*hp*!

Cheers,
Michael

Besides it will take them a month or more to get around to posting the patch. !!**sorry**!!

Re: Out Now: Springfield Line Update

I was wondering how I can get the update mentioned in this thread. I acquired the update to V3 in a sort of pre-sale by 'Trains and Drivers' before it all went to Steam. This all happend in a bit of a haphazard maner. I have the original exe file [VNHRR STEAM Version (V3.0).exe] of 2016, so it's obvious that Steam didn't do the installation. But this means I have no actual connection with Steam VNHRR Springfield line in the Steam system - so no acces to an update. The route is not marked as 'in library'.

Is this fixable? Can I get the update separately? Can the route be converted to a Steam original... Can someone help me out.

Kind regards, jerbaa

Hi jerbaa,

Thanks for your message. I'm very sorry that I forgot to address this case of the pre-Steam versions.

I'm afraid though that I don't have good news for you and any others who don't have the Steam version. It's really all because of the DTG owned assets that we have been using in the Steam version, and also again in the update, that it is now absolutely impossible to distribute that version outside of DTG's own channels (Steam and DTG stores).

When the Steam version of the route came out, we were able to do that standalone update that you referred to in your post by replacing the DTG owned assets with our own, or aliasing them to files from the Kuju assets folders. That however is not possible for the update because it relies heavily on newer assets from DTG for which no equivalent exists in the (former) "base game" files or the original (pre-Steam) VNH assets.

I'll take a closer look at the update package to see what, if anything, I might be able to split off into a standalone udpate package for owners of the pre-Steam version of the route. But I really can't make any promises about how well, if at all, this is going to work.

Cheers,
Michael

Good morning at all,
In first excuse my English , if it is not perfect....I live in France , and at 65 yers old , my mémory of English language hav some troubles...
I have the same problem of jerbaa...
I bought the VNHRR route , the first version ( VNHRR_v0_9) the 02/08/2013......after the Tad-VNHRR_Volume2 the 19/12/2014 , and finally the TaD-VNHRR_Volume3 the 31/08/2016 from the Trains und Drivers site for all purchases...
and , today , it is impossible to get the upgrade , because I have non-Steam version...
May be , in the next future , a simple upgrade in an exe.file for all customers like us , will be very appreciate..
many thanks for all you will do for us , and have a good day
Best Regards
Jean-Pierre

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your quick reaction. This clarifies the situation and its connected complexities. I understand and appreciate your explanation and appreciate your efforts to make this update 'kind of work' for Jean-Pierre, me and possible other Pre-Steamers.

It may be a little wry that a great initiative to update the, already favorite, Springfield line should raise these kinds of problems. The commitment you show to deal with the issue is refreshing - no promisses asked.

If this doesn't work out I will wait for the next Steam sale to purchase and install the line again, but now through the Steam-platform.

Kind regards, Jerbaa

Well Gentlemen, patiency is the man's advantage and now it's time for reward....
The Springfield line is on Steam SALE right now. *!greengrin!*
So I think that's not necessary to continue in search of solution for pre-Steam add on owners, Michael. !!*ok*!!
