Outeniqua Choo-tjoe Route - a South African Route

It is with great sadness that we need to report that the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe is no longer in operation. The railway, officially opened in 1907, actually links the towns of George and Knysna, entailing an incredible 3 hour voyage through Wilderness, Goukamma and Sedgefield - kilometres of amazingly scenic and rugged coastline - one of the most beautiful in the world. However, a mudslide in 2006 brought the line to a grinding halt, and put paid to the trip all the way to Knysna due to unsafe conditions below the slip at Kaaimanspass.

“Transnet Limited has announced that the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe train service operating between George and Mossel Bay will be terminated. Transnet said that it identified the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe service as one of its non-core assets in 2007. Following extensive studies and stakeholder consultation, the company decided to follow an open tender process to find a new operator for the service.

I tried to "revive" the famous Outeniqua Choo-tjoe route.  Rendering it at it's splendid beauty is nearly an impossible task.  This is a humble try to let the Choo-tjoe run again!
