This is a set up Great Northern Steam locomotives made from Dick Cowen Britkits Steam packs. Pretty much all of the required textures were already supplied by Dick as part of the Steam Kits. So he deverse the majority of credit for providing this set. All I did was assemble them as appropriate, in folders and then added a couple of updated texture files of my own.

What is included:

Four GN steam locomotives paint schemes are provided for each Britkit steam pack with two version: one live (drivable) and one dead (for static display).

The four schenes are:

Folder: GreatNorthern  = Black: All black
Folder: GreatNorthern2 = Grey: Smokebox is graphite color
Folder: GreatNorthern3 = Red: Smokebox is graphite and cab roof is red
Folder: GreatNorthern4 = Green: Smokebox is graphite and cab roof is red and boiler is green

Also, I have included within each engine\texture folder batch files to allow further variations.

They include and coorespond to the above paint versions:

00 GN Black = Black
00 GN Grey   = Grey
00 GN Red    = Red
00 GN Green = Green

00 Wheels Black = Black Walls
00 Wheels White = White Walls

For all the GN steam to install and work correctly you must have the updated RW3 version of the following Britkits installed and working in their default locations.

USRA Heavy Miakdo 2-8-2 (four variatons plus helper)

USRA Switcher 0-6-0 & 0-8-0 (one variation of each)

USRA Heavy Mpountain 4-8-2 (Three variation plus helper)
Generic Prairie 2-6-2 (one variation)
Generic Mogul 2-6-0 (one variation)

It is also helpful if you have a good working knowledge of how auto-numbering works, as while the lcomotives are pretty much hands off (I used GN steam roster for numbering the selected steam types) the tenders are separate, providing a variety of possibilities to mix and match tenders to each locomotive.  Lighted tenders require to manually update the numbers on the numberboards to match with selected locomotive. 

To Install:

I used Rw_tools for packaging this set. All shape (Geo) files have been removed.  I have suppied a InstallMe.bat file to quickly copy the appropriate shape (GEO) files to the newly install Great Northern Steam folders.

NOTE:  The batch file will only work if you have all the required Britkits Steam packs installed in their default folders. If not you will have to manually copy the shape (GEO) file(s) to their approproate folders for each Great Northern folder (four) under each locomotive folder.

Unzip the downloaded zip file to a temporary location.  This will create a folder Called GN_Steam, plus this readme file and two picture files and one thumbnail picture file.

Click on and open Britkits folder (located in temporary location). Run Rw_tools installer (make sure the Railworks path is correctly shown in the installer).

Now go to Railworks folder, open Assets folder, then Britkits folder, then the Steam folder and lastly the RaiVehicles folder (Default Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Railworks\Assets\Britkits\Steam\RailVehicles\).

You now should see all your installed steam folders:

Then click on and run InstallMe.bat file.  This will pause for each locomotive and tender class type. Hit enter to continue. When complete it will delete itself from the drectory.

That's it for the installation.

You now have over 100+ Great Northern steam locomotives to fill up those roundhouses.  While they may not all be GN prototypical they still provide the atmosphere of those by gone days when steam ruled the rails. 

To use them make sure that Britkits\Steam is checked in the flyout box or they will not show up.  All have a prefix of GN so all will be grouped together in the engine drop down listing.
