Great Northern F7 Empire Builder Brake and Bell Fix 1.0 by no name (GeneralWo)

F7 Empire Builder Fixes.zip - 8 kb

This mod fixes the bell button, so it remains on after letting go of B, and it fixes the fact the brakes on the coaches didn't fully release by increasing the locomotive's brake pressure from 90 to 110 psi.

Description
This is version 1.0 of a fix I made to deal with two issues with the Great Northern F7 Empire Builder, available on Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/222590/

I'm releasing this for free, you are also free to modify this further and share it online. Just don't sell it for money.

As always, this is an unofficial fix, and is provided AS IS. I take no responsibility if it breaks your game. Make a backup before you apply it, so you can revert back.

This fix adresses two issues:

1. The B key now toggles the bell correctly, and the bell will remain on even when you let go of the button. Press the B key again to toggle the bell off.
2. The coaches will no longer slow down going downhill. This was caused by the locomotive operating the brakes at 90 psi, whilst the coaches need 110 psi. Hence the brakes never fully released.

I upgraded the locomotive's brakes by copying over some lines from a locomotive that operates at 110 psi; the F59PHI that comes with the Pacific Surfliner route.
This locomotive also had Mike Kam (Fanrailer)'s and JohnS's excellent physics and brake modifications applied. This means both these guys deserve credit for this fix too.

You can get the mod for the F59PHI at http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/accessories?view=document&;id=1555:emd-f59phi-physics-upgrade-v-3-0&catid=24:accessories

WARNING

Because this fix changes the locomotive physics, career scenarios may give you a tracks.bin error. If you see this error, press F2 and then cancel and you can still play the scenario.

Because previously the brakes were always slightly applied, you may find that after applying this mod your train is a bit more powerful and will accelerate better. Similarly, dynamic brakes will now appear less effective.

The brake pressure gauges on the F7 were already a bit broken, and this mod doesn't fix that. The middle gauge will correctly show the brakes operating at 110 psi. The rightmost gauge doesn't work at all.

Because the locomotive now operates at 110psi, you may run into issues when you hook up freight cars to it, which generally operate at 90 psi. I have not tested this.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Make a backup.

2. To fix the bell, place the file "F7_Expert.bin" in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\EmpireBuilderPack01\InputMapper and overwrite the file already there.

Tapping B now toggles it on and off, so you don't need to keep the button pressed all the time.

3. To fix the brakes, place the file "F7A_Simulation.bin" in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\EmpireBuilderPack01\Railvehicles\Diesel\F7\Default\Simulation and overwrite the file already there.

4. That's it! If the fixes don't appear to have applied, you can try to clear your Train Simulator cache: Go to Settings --> Tools --> Clear Cache.

Have fun!
