I don't know about the Tulip Trestle being at TrainSim, but it is here at RWA in the File Library.

For some reason the Tulip Trestle from IHH, despite being in my asset folder, isn't showing up in the route. On top of that, in the World Editor --> Object List I can't even select IHH, it doesn't show up at all even after reloading the asset. It must be something with my setup so I'll keep digging into it.

Hi

I'm the original builder of the Eagle Ridge Railroad route (which Pike's version is based on - he made one small modification to the track plan). I'm also now having exactly the same problem with the missing trestle. My problem started when RW updated to RW2. As you say, there's been other forum posts about this problem, but no solution offered that I'm aware of. I've tried re-downloading and re-installing the asset, all to no avail. It's a mystery, and an annoying one. If you find the answer, I'd sure like to know.

Clears up that question, thanks, I was beginning to think this was like the chicken vs. egg as to who was first !*roll-laugh*!

I've been thoroughly enjoying your route though I had to get Pike's for the scenarios...this is some really lovely designing, you did fine work on it. Congratulations, Marc!

Speaking of scenarios-

Totally not your fault or concern, so this is more of a general audience question:

I'm annoyed to distraction by the AI doing silly things to end or block a scenario's progress!

I've encountered this several times...like RudolfJan's neat scenario for the Challenger, in which a rogue AI train runs a closed turnout 5 minutes in and ends it, Michael Stephan's 'Lumber Emergency' (Castle Rock Scenario 1) where a suicidal AI train smacks another AI train just preparing to depart also just a few minutes in, and lots of scenarios included in Pike's route.

In Pike's, A1-A3 are a set of coal drag scenarios, but I can't run 1 or 3; in the first, an AI train apparently crashes elsewhere just as I'm getting into that Lytton yard (across from the infamous trestle y'all have been discussing), and in 3 an AI train that's supposed to stop and move on just stays there, blocking my exit from the reverse loop my tasks are taking place on. Even in A2, I could complete it, but only because the AI didn't crash or block my path when it flaked out.

A4-A9 are scenarios dealing with a local freight and I'm in the midst of A7 now. All's been okay except for a tense moment in A6 (IIRC) where I had to quickly move my loco out of the way of an oncoming passenger train and switch a turnout so it wouldn't derail! That leaves A8 to hopefully run, though A9 is a lost cause so far...I went through every scenario individually fixing broken consists before I could even run them (something like 70 that had to be fixed!) but A9 didn't even give me a clue what was wrong, it hard crashed on loading, and the same when I tried to edit it.

A note to Rudolf about his scenario answered the reason all this is happening. Evidently the AI protocol changed somewhat when Railworks became Railworks2, so older scenarios are sometimes iffy.

My question is, is there some way to remedy these AI shenanigans without having to be a maestro with the editor or RW Tools? I'm still quite the noob at this stuff and though I'd eventually like to write routes and scenarios (or fix busted ones like these) I can tell I'm a long way off from gaining enough skill to be able to do so.

I'm also a bit concerned whether regular RW updates will bollix up more scenarios...an awful lot of work goes into them and I hope they aren't ruined!

I am having the same problem. I just downloaded it from RWA on Monday.
If I restart from the initial menu and select start IHH initially shows in the box on the right.
After entering the check mark, then looking for the trestle, returning to the selection box, IHH is no longer visible, neither is the trestle.

OK, guys & gals. I'm having a lot of trouble getting the "Pike's Eagle Ridge Scenario Pack" to run. After spending what seems like an eternity downloading (broadband, mind you...) and installing all the assets defined in the text file included, with one exception I'll get into below, all I get when trying to run this is a black screen and SBHH. !*hp*!
There's one download I can't find, the noted website doesn't seem to lead to any RW downloads (quote from the installation text file):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will need to download the following freeware engine repaints from:
http://www.sporbust.com <-- WTH is this???
Rs downloads BN_old
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is there an alternate site to get this file - BN_old? I can't tell if this is the only thing preventing me from running the scenarios. The route is not the problem because I can open the free roam scenario included with the route.

Any insights before I just give up and delete the entire route and scenario pack? **!!bang!!**

I'm pretty sure I've done everything required by the installation text file except the BN_old file, but I'm at my wits' end.

I think the route is very interesting and would like very much to get the scenarios running, but I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Others in this forum have apparently gotten it to run, so where do I go from here?

All suggestions gratefully accepted! !!howdy!!

Thanks,
Marc

You probably will not get the Scenario Pack to run. Pikehkr abandoned the route after the RW2 update as it messed everything up and he did not want to be bothered trying to fix everything, again. Your best bet is to get RW_Tools and swap out the engines you can't find with something, and then they still might not work. I will be taking over this version of the route for Pikehkr and adding some newer items like SMM Digital crossing gates and other things.

There are some scenarios that work still in Eagle Ridge and some that are not coompatible with RW2 and certainly not with RW3. It's a good route and I'm glad that Bob is going to look into getting it up to date. I took a look at my assets and I didn't find anything that looks like BN_Old so I may have replaced it with RWTools. Can you tell me which scenario the engine is missing from? That would narrow down the search to see if I have it or not.

Hey, Bob and Don. Thanks for the input. I guess I won't be putting any more time into this route until Bob does some more work with it. I also have the non-Pike Eagle Ridge route from this site's library and it has no programmed scenarios, but it has several free roamers where you can take a UP loco around the route from different points. The route is really interesting and I feel it's worth putting some of my time into. This may be my chance to familiarize myself with scenario creation! !!*ok*!!

I did try swapping out assets in RW_Tools for one scenario and you're right, it still doesn't run. I will keep the other Eagle Ridge route for self-education purposes, but Pike's will be retired.

I spent a few ££ at UK TrainSims, but oh, well, now I have those assets for something else!

Again, thanks a bunch! *!!thnx!!*

Marc

Marc,

I do have a file BNSD40-2_OLD.zip, but there is no readme or file.diz included so it probably didn't come from RWA or train-sim. There are three sub-files, BN-1, -2, and -3, which are re-paints of the default SD40-2. The file is about 25MB in size.

Obo's Locomotive Catalog has it in his listing but it refers to the sporbust site, also. So, replace it with any BN green and black SD40-2 repaint and you'll have virtually the same result.

Thanks. Don, but I think I'll not invest any more of my time into this route for now. I appreciate your looking for me, though. Other routes to pursue, scenarios to complete!
!!*ok*!!
